Looking for a way to incorporate some glitz into your look? Here are some subtle ways to add sequins and beads to an outfit without going overboard.
Sequins and beads are among some of the most eye-catching embellishments to have featured in an outfit. Whether they accent a design on tops, bottoms, handbags or other fashion accessories, they can effortlessly add some glamorous shimmer and shine to any look. The one trick with wearing them, however, is to choose wisely. While you may think that the more you wear the flashier you look, this is certainly true. But depending on the look you’re going for it may require some picking and choosing.
Using a lot of sequins or beads can work for or against you depending on how you wear it. Choosing an outfit heavy with these accents would work best if it is used as a sole statement piece that is then complemented with subtler accessories or clothing pieces. For instance, a dress of sequins or beads can give you that vintage flapper look if desired, but be sure to choose a dress wisely if this is the case. You don’t want to look as if you are wearing a costume, so when it comes to larger statement pieces such as dresses, be sure to choose one in a subtle color that will not be too loud or overly comical. Whites, creams and dark blues and blacks can work really well in these sorts of cases. The accents will do a lot to draw attention to the piece but the understated or neutral color will offset the design and allow the sequins and beads to speak for themselves, making them the true star of your ensemble. Another way to incorporate it largely into an outfit is by wearing a shrug, jacket, cardigan, or any similar piece that uses these features. They can be worn over plainer outfits to give them more oomph without being too over the top. You can also go the reverse route, by wearing a sequined or beaded top underneath a fitted blazer, kimono, etc. to easily jazz up your look.
Another fashion route you can choose to utilize is accessorizing. A handbag, such a clutch, would work great. Clutches are sleek and sophisticated, and despite their size they can still make the perfect statement piece. Jewelry is also a completely doable route, choose a necklace and a bracelet combo or perhaps earrings instead of the bracelet, but be sure to choose conservatively and to space out your accessories to achieve the perfect balance.
