Gifts for Grads

May is the month of college graduations followed by high school graduations in June. What present should you give a grad for these momentous occasions?

The standard gift for these milestones is usually money. If it’s a high school graduation they can put it towards college or maybe a big trip they’re taking. A college grad will appreciate it just as much, if not more, since those student loans don’t pay themselves. When considering how much to gift, take into account your own financial situation and how close of a relationship you have to the student.

If you’d like to give a gift that’s fun and affordable, then buy them accessories like scarves, jewelry, or purses. Gifts like these can be relatively inexpensive and look like you really put thought into it. We love the idea of gifting scarves because they’re practical and fashionable. Lightweight multicolor cotton infinity scarves can coordinate with numerous outfits, not to mention they are great for cool summer nights or air conditioned buildings.

Jewelry can be a bit tricky but is still a good option. When picking an item, such as a necklace, think of what you’ve seen them wear. Perhaps check out their Facebook page or Instagram and see how they like to accessorize. Do they like statement necklaces? Do they like to layer their jewelry? Are there colors they’re drawn to? Pick something that fits the answers to these questions.

We also like gifting clutches and totes because they’re a practical piece of fashion. For example, a summer crocheted multicolor tote is perfect to carry their beach essentials. A sparkly clutch is a nice edition to a wedding outfit, or maybe gift a faux leather clutch for a casual day with their friends.
