Water parks are a great way to beat the summer heat. From water slides to the lazy river, there’s something for everyone. Usually a trip to the water park is a whole day event, so what should you wear?
When heading to the park, wear a pair of shorts and a loose top, like a tunic for example, over your suit. A sundress would also work. Wear a pair of sandals that you don’t mind getting wet. You’ll probably keep them in a locker most of the day, but you don’t want to worry about them getting splashed somewhere along the way. Bring a backpack or tote with a hairbrush, extra clothes, a bra, and underwear to change into for dinner or for your drive home. No one likes sitting in a wet bathing suit. And don’t forget your towel!
A bathing suit is a must have. What type depends on which rides you plan to go on. If you just want a day in the sun hanging out on an inner tube, then any suit will do. If you plan to be more active, like riding the water slides, stay away from strapless suits or bathing suits with ties. You’ll want to wear something with a lower risk of accidentally exposing yourself. Try a suit, like a tankini or a one piece, with straps that cross in the back. Another option is a two piece that fits like a sports bra and a pair of swim shorts. Save the skimpy suit for lounging on a beach chair.
Avoid accessories you might lose like earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Sunglasses are also something that should stay in your locker. Feel free to “accessorize” your outfit with a fun manicure and pedicure. As always, wear sunscreen.
