Any adult growing up in the 1980s should be familiar with She-Ra. This powerful blonde, who was the sister of He-Man, rocked a white and gold dress, gold accessories and a red cape. We took inspiration from this outfit for this weeks throwback Thursday.

We chose to switch out the short white and gold dress for a white romper. It’s still short, but more practical then She-Ra’s white dress. We don’t know how she fought in that thing.

Next we accessorized with gold pieces. We chose a gold cuff to mimic the gold bands she wore on her forearms. To add a little gold to her dress we chose a gold waterfall necklace. This piece of jewelry drapes nicely but has that chain metal warrior vibe to it. Instead of knee high boots we accessorized with gold heels. We did this for two reasons, for one this is a summer look and for two, gold boots would make this outfit look like a costume. We liked these heels because the straps are placed in a way that looks feminine yet strong.

To work the red into the outfit, we chose a red bugle bead gold trim convertible clutch purse. It has a strong design but a playful aspect with the beading, just like the cape. We love that it can be worn as a clutch or with the strap as a shoulder purse.
