Gardening is a great hobby that reduces stress. Planting seeds and watching them grow can be very rewarding. But just because you’re getting dirty doesn’t mean you can’t look cute. Here are some tips to looking fashionable while your hands are in the dirt.

It’s hot out, so start with a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. For a fun option, channel your inner farmer and wear overalls. Wear closed toe shoes like a pair of old sneakers. You want to keep your feet clean of dirt and protect your toes in case you drop a trowel. Accessorize with a bandana or scarf to keep your hair out of your face. A hat or cap would also work and give you extra sun protection.

If you’re reworking a whole area of your yard, then we recommend jeans and a long sleeved shirt. You don’t want to risk exposing your skin to poison ivy, ticks, etc.

Whatever you choose to wear, make sure it’s something you don’t mind getting dirty and you can easily throw in the wash afterward.

Don’t forget to pack a tote with all the items and equipment you’ll need like seeds, a trowel, cute gardening gloves and water to keep you hydrated. You can also use it to carry your vegetables when they’re ripe.
