How To Choose the Perfect Wedding Shoe

Of course you want everything on your perfect day to be AMAZING! From the dress to the food to the venue…all has to be considered. This includes your shoes! Your venue and wedding date have just as much weight on this decision as the style of your dress.

1. Consider the weather. Warm weather usually calls for sandals or open toed shoes. Cool weather usually dictates that you wear closed heels. Some off-beat brides choose fur lined boots for outdoor winter weddings, or fancy manicures only and no shoes for beach weddings.

2. Think about the venue. If you plan on getting married on a grassy knoll, stiletto heels would not be the best choice as the heel would sink through the lawn. Stacked heels or flats would be better in this situation.

3. For outdoor weddings with paved or hard surfaces, you can wear almost any shoe, especially if the weather is nice. If you are wearing a floor length dress, you can get away with anything! Don’t let the fact that your shoes are hidden keep you from picking a beautiful pair. You can even use this opportunity to wear a bright and fun color. Or choose a beautiful sequined blue heel for your secret good luck “something blue” on your special day.

4. Short dresses don’t mean you have to match perfectly. You can choose a pair of shoes that go along with your color scheme. Lace wedding shoes can match perfectly with different dress fabrics like satin, chiffon and silk. For a more updated look, opt for a open toed platform heel. Indoor weddings during the winter months call for soft velvet high heeled shoes with crystal embellishments.

As you plan your wedding day, Chicastic is here to provide you with the most gorgeous clutches, chiffon scarves and dress heels to match any color scheme and style. Chicastic also has “after the wedding” accessories like satin corsets in every color. Our products make wonderful bridesmaid gifts as well! Click here to see more!

What to Wear to a Winter Wedding

Winter can be a cold and cruel season. Pretty summer hues are slowly eaten away by autumn and though the first snowfall may be beautiful, it melts away to a brown, gloopy mess. All of a sudden, you remember there’s a wedding smack in the middle of winter that you already RSVP’d to! There’s no backing out of it now, but what on earth do you wear?

First thing’s first, don’t panic! Winter is an opportunity to explore a new look, so try to have fun with it.

Next, look up the average temperature of that day. You want to be prepared!

Try new, rich jewel tones that include plum, wine, emerald, or deep blue. Warmer fabrics like brocade, velour, velvet or even knit can help keep the shivers to a minimum. Wrap your shoulders in faux fur or a velvet wrap for the outdoors, or add a pop of whimsy with a warm patterned pashmina.

Winter Wedding

For extra warmth, layer on tights instead of hose and instead of scrappy sandals wear velvet shoes like these crystal encrusted peep toe heels! Perhaps carry the shoes in with you and wear boots on your way to the venue, just so you don’t muddy up your outfit.

Accessorizing for a winter wedding offers more of an opportunity for sparkle and shine, even for casual weddings. Glittering mesh clutch purses are perfect for casual or cocktail style weddings, whereas crystal encrusted clutch bags are a beautiful touch of glam for formal events.

How To Build a Winter Capsule Wardrobe

Winter Capsule Wardrobe

If you live in a multi-season climate, there are certain habits you pick up when cultivating your wardrobe, most notably the habit of storing away certain seasonal pieces during their months of non-use. Flip flops, tank tops and shorts are squirreled away in the attic, while sweaters, scarves and hats make their way into your closet. Sometimes, it gets a little tedious. The way to solve this problem is to create a layered wardrobe that can easily transition from fall to winter! Here is how!

First, look through your closet. Keep pieces that are suitable for layering, including basic tank tops, button downs, and cardigans! Essentially, a lot of your spring wardrobe can STILL be used during the winter! What you would most likely pack away would be your open toed shoes, sandals, shorts, and skirts. The exception to the rule would be shoes you would wear to the office like these peep toe crystal heels from Chicastic.

Secondly, decide how many of those pieces you would like to use for the season. The easiest way to figure this out is to determine your color story. Remove everything that generally doesn’t fit in color wise.

Third, determine what you need for the rest of the season. You’ll definitely want to make sure you have thicker pieces for layering.

  1. Loose Fit Lightweight Shrug Style Casual Cardigan
  2. Drapey Open Front Cardigan
  3. Soft Plaid Square Blanket Neck Scarf Pashmina Shawl Wrap
  4. Crossbody Handbag

Masquerade Costume

Red Masquerade

Halloween is the time to put on a masquerade. A masquerade party, by definition, is a party where everyone attends wearing a mask. Well, on Halloween, that’s a definite given! Masquerade parties allow you to adopt new personas. As per their 15th century beginnings, they allowed people to wear clothing they wouldn’t normally wear. Enjoying yourself while remaining anonymous is what makes these parties so alluring.

But if you’re running late or found a party to go to last minute, a masquerade costume is so easy to make! Literally, all you need is a mask, and boom – masquerade!

There’s no reason to be boring about it, though! Use this time to wear an outfit you wouldn’t normally wear! Just pick your favorite color and GO!

Start with a satin lace up corset in your most favoritest color! From there, find a pair of shoes that match, like these red peep toe crystal encrusted heels! You’ll definitely need something to carry your car keys in, but not something you want to worry about holding the whole time, so this red satin rose wristlet with rhinestone handle is perfect for dangling on your arm without being too big to think about. And its rose design looks like part of your costume! Add a long ballgown type skirt and a red chiffon scarf to keep your shoulders warm, too! Last, but definitely not least, a tiny top hat for the crowning finish!

Wicked Witch of the West

Sexy Glinda the Good Witch

If you’re still looking for costume ideas for you and your BFF, look no further! What better BFF costume pairing than the two witches from “The Wizard of Oz?” Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West! They could not be more different! And today you will see the more modern incarnation of them in the musical “Wicked” playing on Broadway!

Here is all you need!

Wicked Witch of the West

Start with a black halter style lace up corset from Chicastic. Add to that a tulle skirt, and a pair of crystal embellished peep toe pumps. Next, add the really witchy details such as the pointed witches hat, broom, and for good measure, tie a black chiffon scarf to the hat for some extra drama in the wind! Carry your essentials in this black lace knuckle duster clutch, emphasizing her “wickedness.”

Glinda The Good Witch

A pink satin corset is a perfect start to this costume. Add a pink tulle skirt and a pair of silver crystal pumps as an homage to the iconic character’s look.  The signature crown and wand can be made at home with supplies found around the house and the jewelry can be found in your own jewelry box! Lastly, carry everything you need for the night in a vintage inspired bead and sequined clutch purse!

Sexy Poodle

Sexy Poodle

You ever wonder what your dog would dress up for Halloween if we didn’t impose on them our idea of a cute costume? Maybe they’d dress like us! Imagine that, a dog in blue jeans and wig! Maybe even a tiny corset! Silly silly!

Of course you could dress up as your dog for Halloween! But have some fun with it, especially if you’re going to a bar or out on the town. You’ll need one of Chicastic’s satin lace up corsets in whatever color your dog is. If you have a spotted or merle dog, you can always glue felt spots or patterns or add detail to your corset with special fabric paint or pens. Next, match your shorts or skirt to your corset, and your shoes! For a poodle, we decided a pair of rhinestone crusted stiletto pumps would be appropriate. Poodles, of course, are the fashionistas of dogs! (well, along with Malteses and Yorkshire Terriers). Some fur legwarmers and gloves would be the perfect finishing touch! Don’t forget the ears, which you can find at any party supply store, or even make your own with a couple scraps of faux fur attached to a headband! Last but not least, make sure you carry everything you need for the evening in your “doggie bag” or clutch purse, to be exact! We imagine a poodle would carry something so blinged out, just like this Gold Crystal Rhinestone Hard Box Clutch!

Steam Punk Lite DIY

Steam Punk Lite

Let’s face it, sometimes you don’t want to go all out with a Halloween costume, and that’s okay! Or sometimes you are going to be at work and can’t wear a totally crazy outfit! Totally understandable. Outrageous and elaborate costumes are wonderful but they do take lots of work, and if you’re a person with a extra busy schedule, but want to do more than just carry a cereal box with a knife jammed into it around with you all night, then we’ve got a solution, and it only takes a couple of pieces from your local costume store and some stuff from your own closet!

This Steam Punk Lite look takes all the elements of steam punk and boils it down to the essentials. Brown, black, bronze and gold are the basic color palette. We aren’t going for accuracy, especially if you don’t have the time, just enough to suggest the look is fine. The brown and black gothic striped corset from Chicastic is the BASE and every thing this costume is built around. Pair it with a pair of black or brown leather/pleather/shiny/denim pants and a pair of bronze crystal rhinestone embellished heels (crystals aren’t really steam punk but they’re more fun than plain boots so let’s go with that). Carry your necessities in a purse with some gold metal detailing like this shimmering mesh knuckle duster clutch. Then head over to your closest costume shop and buy a pair of goggles (or paint some old swimming goggles gold, just be sure to tape over the lenses first so that they don’t get painted on, then remove the tape after the paint dries), and then remember that green top hat that you used during the pub crawl during St. Patrick’s day? Spray paint that one black and gold too! Boom, steam punk lite! If you’re at the office, don’t forget to wear a blazer to cover up your shoulders, or a leather jacket if it’s chilly at night!

DIY Rainbow Unicorn Costume

Rainbow Unicorn

Ask any little kid if they love rainbows and they’ll probably say yes! Little kids LOVE rainbows! I don’t think the love for rainbows ends when you grow up. With cartoons like My Little Pony, Rainbow Brite and The Powerpuff Girls, there are a ton of multi-colored costume inspirations that you can pull off!

For this generic rainbow unicorn costume, you will need a Sexy Satin Corset in GOLD. A bright rainbow patterned tutu will be the star of this costume. For a light layer of warmth in case you get chilly, wrap a purple chiffon scarf around your neck. Or any color, really, because anything would literally match! Blue Rhinestone Crystal Stiletto Heels and a gold rhinestone clutch will be the perfect accessories for your look. Last but most important, don’t forget the unicorn headband with ears and horn attached!
