How To Choose the Perfect Wedding Shoe

Of course you want everything on your perfect day to be AMAZING! From the dress to the food to the venue…all has to be considered. This includes your shoes! Your venue and wedding date have just as much weight on this decision as the style of your dress.

1. Consider the weather. Warm weather usually calls for sandals or open toed shoes. Cool weather usually dictates that you wear closed heels. Some off-beat brides choose fur lined boots for outdoor winter weddings, or fancy manicures only and no shoes for beach weddings.

2. Think about the venue. If you plan on getting married on a grassy knoll, stiletto heels would not be the best choice as the heel would sink through the lawn. Stacked heels or flats would be better in this situation.

3. For outdoor weddings with paved or hard surfaces, you can wear almost any shoe, especially if the weather is nice. If you are wearing a floor length dress, you can get away with anything! Don’t let the fact that your shoes are hidden keep you from picking a beautiful pair. You can even use this opportunity to wear a bright and fun color. If you live in a multi-season climate, there are certain habits you pick up when cultivating your wardrobe, most notably the habit of storing away certain seasonal pieces during their months of non-use. Flip flops, tank tops and shorts are squirreled away in the attic, while sweaters, scarves and hats make their way into your closet. Sometimes, it gets a little tedious. The way to solve this problem is to create a layered wardrobe that can easily transition from fall to winter! Here is how!

First, look through your closet. Keep pieces that are suitable for layering, including basic tank tops, button downs, and cardigans! Essentially, a lot of your spring wardrobe can STILL be used during the winter! What you would most likely pack away would be your open toed shoes, sandals, shorts, and skirts. Of course you could dress up as your dog for Halloween! But have some fun with it, especially if you’re going to a bar or out on the town. Let’s face it, sometimes you don’t want to go all out with a Halloween costume, and that’s okay! Or sometimes you are going to be at work and can’t wear a totally crazy outfit! Totally understandable. Outrageous and elaborate costumes are wonderful but they do take lots of work, and if you’re a person with a extra busy schedule, but want to do more than just carry a cereal box with a knife jammed into it around with you all night, then we’ve got a solution, and it only takes a couple of pieces from your local costume store and some stuff from your own closet!

This Steam Punk Lite look takes all the elements of steam punk and boils it down to the essentials. Brown, black, bronze and gold are the basic color palette. We aren’t going for accuracy, especially if you don’t have the time, just enough to suggest the look is fine. The brown and black gothic striped corset from Chicastic is the BASE and every thing this costume is built around. Pair it with a pair of black or brown leather/pleather/shiny/denim pants and a pair of bronze crystal rhinestone embellished heels (crystals aren’t really steam punk but they’re more fun than plain boots so let’s go with that).
