And today you will see the more modern incarnation of them in the musical “Wicked” playing on Broadway!

Here is all you need!

Wicked Witch of the West

Start with a black halter style lace up corset from Chicastic. Add to that a tulle skirt, and a pair of crystal embellished peep toe pumps. Next, add the really witchy details such as the pointed witches hat, broom, and for good measure, tie a black chiffon scarf to the hat for some extra drama in the wind! Carry your essentials in this black lace knuckle duster clutch, emphasizing her “wickedness.”

Glinda The Good Witch

A pink satin corset is a perfect start to this costume. Add a pink tulle skirt and a pair of silver crystal pumps as an homage to the iconic character’s look.  The signature crown and wand can be made at home with supplies found around the house and the jewelry can be found in your own jewelry box! Lastly, carry everything you need for the night in a vintage inspired bead and sequined clutch purse!

“Roads..Where We’re Going We Don’t Need Roads”

Anyone with a healthy love of movies, and/or all things 80’s knows that this coming Wednesday is an important day in cinematic history “30 years” in the making! On Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 4:29 Marty Mcfly arrives “in the future!!” The beloved “Back to the Future” trilogy first thrilled audiences with the initial film of the franchise in 1985, and introduced us to Marty McFly, who travels back to 1955 in a Time Machine made out of a DeLorean created by his friend, Doctor Emmett “Doc” Brown.  In the second film, released in 1989, but also partially set in 1985, Marty, Doc Brown, Jennifer and Einstein travel 30 years into the future to October 21 2015 to thwart an event that would unravel the future of the McFly family. This film gave us a hilarious view of what folks in the 80’s thought “the future”  would look like. Well the future is officially now! Let Chicastic help you find the perfect outfit to wear to a screening of “Jaws 19” or shopping for a new Hover Board!

It’s almost impossible to pull off the classic Marty’s look without looking exceedingly masculine, which is totally cool if you’re going for that style, but not if you want to keep it softer and more playful. To make your own fun version of the famous Mcfly look, start with our corset in wine red. Replace the denim jacket with this navy blue cardigan.Add a fitted plaid shirt and the signature puffy “life preserver” vest.  For a cute nod to the film, add this bolt of lightning ring, all 1.21 gigawatts of it! Add a pair of light denim skinny jeans and a simple pair of white Nike’s you’re ready to “make like a tree and get out of here.”

Jennifer is a unwitting participant in her trip to 2015, and finds out some shocking news about her possible future…. like getting married in the “Chapel O’ Love” and in-laws that tote re-hydrated pizza. To get her ’85 look, start with our floral print leggings. Next, add a long sleeve white shirt under our royal blue sleeveless cardigan. Put on some chunky socks and pair of plain white or grey sneakers and you’re ready for a day in Hill Valley!

Are you more of a fan of what everyone in 2015 is supposed to be wearing?  This involves a mix and match of different patterns and materials. One way to recreate this look is to start with a pair of our abstract pattern leggings along with our red and black patent leather bustier. Next, add this multi-color triangle statement necklace. It adds hard lines seen in the film’s fashion, and the colors really make it work. Add a pair of shoes that’ll really pop, like these bright pumps. Then use the makeup brush kit to give yourself a futuristic makeover.

Let Chicastic get you out the door at 88 MPH!

Halloween in your Office

It seems like Halloween costumes for Women from big box party stores are getting shorter and skimpier by the year. Thus making it harder to find something fun yet appropriate for work. Even though Halloween is on a Saturday this year, many office will be celebrating on Friday the 30th so you need to be prepared. Chicastic has a lot of ways you can create a great looks for Halloween whether you work at a school, in  an office or anything in between.

Our line of leggings are the perfect jumping off point for several animal themed costumes. They come in snake, cheetah, leopard print. We also have  a zebra print pattern. Simply pair with a shirt or blouse of corresponding pattern or complementary colors.  For all but the snake, for which a simple forked tongue painted on by the bottom lip will do, color in your nose with black or brown face paint and draw on some whiskers. Top off with a pair of ears and a tail and you’re ready to roll!

In addition to animal themed costumes, with these star patterned leggings available in both dark blue and black,  you can go as the night sky or use them as the background for another object in the solar system! Then get creative and take a black or dark blue t-shirt and create the planet or other celestial bodies any way you desire. Some methods include puff paint and bleach, or you buy or make small 3-d models you can attach.

You could take it back to the 80’s and sport this top and tank combo off the shoulder. Pair with leggings, the more colorful the better like these patterned ones, sneakers like high-top Converse or slip on Vans, leg warmers, and a side pony tail. Top it off with a sweat band and a pair larger than life hoop earrings and you’re basically Olivia Newton John.

When you’re ready to go out on Halloween night and want to jazz your costume up a bit, our line of corsets are a perfect way to do a “sexy” costume on your own terms! Let Chicastic help you find your perfect costume no matter what the occasion!
