Find Your Signature Style

Finding a look that is totally you can be tricky, but it does take some time and experimentation. Here are some tips on where to start.

There are plenty of styles out there and sometimes it feels difficult finding which one suits us and our personality. Some people are well suited to one particular style while many of us don’t feel like we fit into any one specific category or embody one look alone. While it would seem easier to just find one style and stick to it, we are all individuals and we are all different in varying, infinite ways. So how do we find our own signature style? Essentially it comes down to what makes us feel comfortable and what instills us with confidence and self assurance, and finding that will take some trial and error, experimentation and perhaps some advice.

Testing out specific looks and styles is a good place to start. If a particular look seems to suit you, then perfect! But chances are your experimentation will teach you a lot about what you like and what you don’t like. It will also give you some insight as to what sorts of pieces look best on you by flattering your figure and which ones don’t. If you don’t find one set style that suits you or appeals to you, don’t worry. The trial and error will still yield loads of information that you will need to move forward.

Once you’ve done some experimenting, you’ll be left with an idea of what pieces you loved and which ones you didn’t love so much. Now, it’s time to take what you’re left with and mix and match! This will help you create a more personal and individualistic style that perhaps better suits your unique tastes. Wearing clothes that you feel good in will also make you feel far more comfortable in them.

If you’re still having trouble figuring out what works for you or if you’re having a hard time finding clothes that flatter your figure, it may be time to ask for some third party advice. Asking friends and family can help find your personal look but a lot of time these people are used to what you usually wear and may need to be open to as much suggestion as you are. Asking the people who work at the stores you frequent is a great place to seek advice. They’ll know how their sizes work and which fits and styles will work to flatter your figure and which pieces may suit what you’re looking for. They may even be able to help you construct outfits and introduce you to pieces you may not have considered on your own.
